Through the magic of 3D printing, Sprout Design Lab turns treasured drawings, handwriting, and even paw prints into jewelry—wearable art. Engineer and founder, Jade Brown, started the company out of a love for bringing children's drawings to life. We began working with Jade in 2020 to brand Sprout and create a packaging system for this charming, yet scientific, new product.
Blending whimsy and practicality, we developed a custom drawer box that reveals a recipient's new jewelry piece inside a glass petri dish, along with a sleeve containing care and storage instructions. A vellum overlay outlining steps of the 3D printing and jewelry-making process is layered on top as an added reveal. Custom shipping boxes, tissue paper, and stickers complete the unboxing experience, and are also used for Sprout's other product—the Drawing Kit. A step above a gift card, the Drawing Kit includes everything a child needs to create the first piece of the Sprout process, a drawing! A tin of markers, a foil-printed perforated notepad, and an illustrated instruction card are packaged in an acrylic slide-top box and sealed with a Design Lab sticker. Simply draw, snap a photo, and let the engineers get to work.
